The Power of ClearStone Focused on a Specific Application Architecture

A Management Pack is an extension of Evident ClearStone that customizes ClearStone’s four major functions for a specific application architecture such as Oracle Coherence or Memcached.

ClearStone’s four major functions are:

Collect: ClearStone’s collection framework collects data through JMX, CSV files, logs (via a log4J appenders) and other sources. Information can be fed in batch or in real time to ClearStone’s real-time Operational Cache (OpCache) for immediate processing.

Correlate: ClearStone aggregates and correlates collected data and transforms it into rich application data and metrics. Through a Complex Event Processing (CEP) engine, ClearStone quickly reads data stored in the OpCache, processes the data and transforms it for use as analytics, and writes it back to OpCache. Users can identify and create connections between and within systems to glean information not available when collecting from individual containers.

Visualize: ClearStone’s real-time dashboard allows for rich visualizations that can be customized to report on nearly any metric possible. Standard features include a health dashboard, threshold-based alerting, and compare/contrast reports. In addition, information can be read in the OpCache in real time going back up to 24 hours or more – allowing for instant access to historical information. Historical and real-time data can be compared and reported on. Advanced visualizations such as heat maps analyze topologies and hot spots. The popular user interface is Flex-based and can run in any browser.

Manage: ClearStone has rich management functions, including custom and real-time alerts, as well as a plug-in framework that supports manual or automated responses to threshold-based conditions via built-in, third party, or user-created code. Users can start/stop nodes and systems, elastically grow and shrink based on thresholds. and provide information to 1st level system management tools via SNMP, SMTP, and more.

ClearStone comes bundled with the Management Pack for Java, and offers ready-to-use add-on Management Packs for Oracle Coherence, memcached, and Tibco GridServer.
